Beginning
in 1973, the founder of ShootersEar,
Chuck McElwee, has been an avid shooter as well as law enforcement
officer and hearing instrument specialist. Over the years our products
have become well known within the hunting and shooting industry.
ShootersEars are hearing protection or hearing enhancement and protection systems designed to:
- help hunters hear game better,
- shooters hear the range master or companion better,
- be comfortable for all day use,
- and protect your hearing, all at the same time.

McElwee,
is a former Military Policeman with the 1st Infantry Division, Kansas Deputy
Sheriff and Kansas Highway Patrol State Trooper. After 20 years in
law enforcement McElwee became interested in the hearing instruments sciences and
hearing preservation. As an Indiana licensed
hearing care provider, and still an avid shooter, his years of
shooting experience and understanding of the physiology of the hearing and hearing loss process
convinced him that hunters, shooters, military, & law enforcement officers were subjecting themselves to certain hearing loss
each time they discharged their firearm. As a result, he and a team of dedicated audiologists, engineers and technicians developed the ShootersEar
product line, the industry’s most effective "real world" compact hearing enhancement and protection devices.
